Good luck all teams tomorrow in the Big Dog Tackle’s 2026 Battle for Cancer. Looks like its gonna be calm seas and low winds. Get those rods/reels ready for a solid day of fishing and see everyone at the scales 14th street for the weigh in. If anyone is up for it we can start an OAPB calcutta for $50 for the heaviest 3 fish weighed in. Send a text on the Team App if you are interested. Only OAPB members will be allowed to participate. Swordfish Tournament Captains Meeting
Join us for our annual Swordfish Tournament this weekend. Captain’s meeting is tomorrow night at 26 Degrees Brewery 6pm. Offshore fishing for Swordfish has been off the chain out of Hillsboro Inlet, and we look forward to seeing some monsters of the deep at the scales. This tournament is open to the public, local fishermen, captains, and families.
Capt. Charlie Johnson, OAPB Tournament Chair, is heading this event up for our community. Capt. Charlie runs a local charter out of Hillsboro Inlet called Good Time Charlie Charters. Not only does he take customers out on his boat, he also will come out on to your boat to show you the correct set up to land a nice fish.
Thank you to Billy Springer and Gray Taxidermy for the awesome Swordfish Mount they donated for our tournament raffle. This mount is valued at over $1500, and all proceeds will go toward our Kids Day Fishing event by the OAPB Fishing Foundation.
Thank you to all our sponsors for the raffle items, support, and engagement in our events. Reel Battery, Atlastrax, Sea Tow Fort Lauderdale, Kraken Wraps, Dirty Birdy, Dock Experts, Hodge Marine, and The Pig Reaper.
Thank you to our biggest supporter and sponsor Big Dog Tackle for all the years of being there for the Offshore Angler of Pompano Beach Fishing Club and OAPB Fishing Foundation.

CASINO NIGHT FOR FIRST RESPONDER EVENT
Hey everyone our Casino Night 80s Rock is in two days. We will need everyone that plans on attending to click on link below, so we can get our guest list together. You do not have to play to attend there is an option to donate to attend and network.
This is the last event before our First Responder Fishing. The point of the FR Fishing event is to bring our First Responders out for a day of fishing, shirts, and then a wrap up party Pig Roast with the Pig Reaper Jim Ruback. This will be at no cost to our First Responders that we depend on daily throughout our communities.
Casino Night is a great opportunity to raise funds for a great cause, and mingle/network your business to the attendees. Whether you are an attorney, chiropractor, marine service, plumber, pool service, general contractor, roofer, engineer, or in real estate you will have the opportunity to meet other like minded people and make connections. Your donation to the event includes catered food, drink mixers, and ice. We just ask that you bring your favorite alcohol beverage to drink.
This year, the 2025 OAPB Fishing Foundation Casino Night is aiming to raise funds for the 1st OAPB Fishing Foundation First Responder’s Fishing Event. We are targeting 3 organizations to benefit from this event:
- Pompano Beach Benevolent Firefighters Association
- Southeast Police Motorcycle Rodeo
- Broward Sherriff Office Marine Unit
We are looking for 10 Captains/boats to bring 3 of the First Responders on their vessels for the tourney, and will shoot out another email that is specific about the tourney and Pig Roast with Jim Ruback the Pig Reaper.
If you are interested in captaining your boat for the tournament or sponsorship opportunities, please reach out to the Event Chair, Holly Hunt at holly@offshoreanglerspompanobeach.org or 404-408-2858.

KIDS DAY FISHING~FISH CITY PRIDE~OAPB FISHING FOUNDATION
Saturday July 13th was a beautiful day to be on the water fishing. A group of young adults came aboard Fish City Pride with our volunteers and chaperones to learn about fishing out of Hillsboro Inlet, Pompano Beach FL. Some of these kids have never been on boats or even picked up a fishing rod. That did not stop them from dropping the anxiety/fear for absolute fun and laughter. Check out the video of the day.
Thank you to Holly Hunt, Kids Day Fishing Chair, for organizing the event Kids Day Fishing through our OAPB Fishing Foundation 501C3.
Thank you to all our sponsors for their support to make this an awesome day for these young adults.
