COMMON SNOOK
Snook is our species of the month fish. The FWC regulation limit is one per angler. Measurements must be between 28″-32″ Total Length. The cap per fish submittal is 3 per month. The additional point value for a species of the month submittal is 100 points per fish. Remember, the March wristband must be in the photo for the submittal to be accepted. Good Luck!!
Tom Green, Custom Rod and Reel, provided some tips in the Sun Sentinel: “Try these tactics to catch snook”
Greene said that if he was going to fish for snook the minute the season opens, he’d be at any bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway from Fort Lauderdale to Boynton Beach.
He’d cast a Flair Hawk jig and bounce it on the bottom parallel to the bridge and along the shadow line on the water created by the bridge’s lights. He also recommended working a Spooltek Lure along the bottom.
“The secret of snook fishing is that snook are feeding on the bottom, not on top,” said Greene, although he acknowledged that the fish will occasionally hit a topwater lure.
