Eligible Fish

The Eligibile Fish list has been updated today. The points system for points per lb has been removed, and points per inch has been added. Also, the minimum OAPB requirements for the fish have changed to reflect FWC minimums. The variations of scale manufacturer makes it unreliable to get accurate values. Now, you will receive points for the fish you submit, and points for the length of the fish caught. If you have any questions please give me a call or email me. 832-509-8833

Fish of the Month

The Fish of the Month for the monthly contest is Tarpon. Normally, the club would choose the Fish of the Month from a random drawing at the club meetings. We are replacing the December meeting with our Holiday Party at 26 Degrees, so the Fish of the Month for January will be chosen at the party.

Events Lineup

The EVENTS LINEUP tab has been updated to reflect the club events that will be coming up. This is more of a visual and description of the events. All events will be posted and updated in the EVENTS CALENDAR.  Let me know if you have some questions, I am always available.

Submitting Eligible Fish for Contest

The Fish Submittal page has been updated to reflect the minimum length requirement next to the fish EX:  Jack Crevalle 36″, This should help anglers identify that they are meeting the minimum requirement before submitting their fish. Also, you should go to the fish submittal page on your iphone or android, then bookmark the page to your homescreen on your phone. This will allow you to simply press the OAPB icon, and the fish form will pop up, with the minimum lengths for each fish on the fish button. I am in the process of creating a fish identification button (picture and description) for the Eligible Species, Should make it quick to identify your species while your fishing.

Thank you,

Shaughn Miller

Captain of the Year

Captain of the Year has been added to the annual tournament. The captain of each boat can build points toward this award when his vessel places 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place in any OAPB tournament, lands the Heaviest Fish in any OAPB tournament, and the Fish of the Month/Species of the Month is caught on his vessel. The same angler can receive the Captain and the Angler of the year award. We do have a few members that can run a 4 line spread, fight the fish, gaff, and do all this while controlling the helm. The scoring system and rules are located on the CONTESTS tab. The annual and monthly contest has begun today, so remember to submit your fish. Points will be added up daily, and posted to the OAPB scoreboard. Keep those lines tight, Good Luck!!

Contests

The annual and monthly contests have been updated to reflect 3 total contests running parallel throughout the year. Also, a Leader Board or Contest Board has been created showing your ranking against other members. I am currently updating the code to reflect auto-updating of points on a daily basis. The contest begins in 5 days, so good luck. Send me any inquiries you may have, or just leave a comment to this post, and everyone can add to the discussion. Thank you, and Fish On!!

2016 OAPB Holiday Party

Fellow OAPB Members,

Ending the 2016 year without a Holiday Party just does not seem right. So, in order to keep with tradition, we will be holding our annual Holiday Party at 26 Degrees Brewing Co. for all of our club members and family! This year the club will be supplying the main dishes including Ham (Honey Baked Ham, Co), and a delicious Turkey. Club members will supply one dish per family for the potluck, and the list of potluck categories will be posted shortly on the website under the events page.  As members choose a dish, the list will update automatically by eliminating that dish from the list.

We will also be doing a White Elephant Gift Exchange, so if you plan on participating, please bring a wrapped gift ranging in price from $15-$20 (you can never go wrong with alcohol and wine gifts).  Please bring one gift for each person that wants to be included in the exchange (bring one gift, take one home).

Dj X-Ray (a new club member) has graciously offered up his killer jams for our holiday fiesta. Again, this will be for club members and family only, and members must RSVP with the # of guests they will be bringing.  The dates will be Dec. 15th @ 7pm. Further information will be posted under events.

2017 Kick-Off Party

January’s club meeting will have guest speaker Captain John E. Haney (AKA Captain Jack). Captain Jack has several decades of experience sword fishing off the coast of Florida, and will be coming in to talk to us about technique, tackle, gear, times, zones, and what it takes to get one of these bad boys in the boat!! We will also, go over the Sailfish tournament that will go down in February. Fish On!!
